This weekend: Plays, plays, plays and Love Your Farmer Day

Screen Shot 2013-06-18 at 10.27.57 AMTonight Shakespeare Dallas is kicking off their production of “Pericles.” The play is about when Pericles discovers the dreaded answer to Antioch’s riddle, he flees for his life straight into famine, shipwreck, love and fatherhood. This story moves the audience through resurrection, attempted murder and pirates before reaching a divine revelation. Directed by executive and artistic director Raphael Parry. Performance time is 8:15 p.m. for all shows. The event is at Samuell Grand Amphitheater. Visit shakespearedallas.org to view the schedule. On Saturday, June 22, the Bath House Cultural Center is hosting Audacity Theater Lab and their play “Dinosaur and Robot Stop a Train,” which could be cool, or really lame. Read more about it here.

3-little-pigs_optEvery story has another side, even the story of the Three Little Pigs. Starting this Friday, June 21, Dallas Children’s Theater brings you “The True Story of the Three Little Pigs,” running until July 14. Adapted from the hilariously popular book by Jon Scieszka and Lane Smith. In the play, A. Wolf finally gets to tell his side of the story, and you determine the ending of the play in this jazzy-cool musical that will blow the hair off your chinny chin chin! This Saturday the people from White Rock Local Garden are hosting their first “Love Your Farmer“ volunteer day from 8 a.m. to noon at White Rock Local Garden located at Garland and Fuller. To volunteer, email director Sarah Perry for instructions. Hats, sun screen and gloves are required. Bring your garden tools if you have them. Breakfast and refreshments are provided.

If so, you’ve probably heard of Buckner Children and Family Services. Tonight they’re hosting a free foster care and adoption information meeting at 7 p.m., so individuals interested in adoption can learn how the adoption process in Texas works. The meeting will cover topics such as foster care and adoption options in Texas, Waiting Texas Children and domestic infant adoption programs.
