Wine-bottles-on-shelf.jpg• Lakewood Brewing Company will be one of the participants in the annual Raiser Grazer Les Dames d’Escoffier fundraiser from 5-8 p.m. March 3 at Union Station. This year’s event will showcase local purveyors of fruits, vegetables, meat, cheese and other artisanal dairy products. Tickets are $65 per person.

Poetry night returns to the Garden Cafe at 7 p.m. on March 8, featuring a five-course dinner and BYOB with no corkage fee. Price is $65 per person, not including tax and gratuity.

• Wine of the week: Dry Creek Dry Chenin Blanc 2011 ($10) is an example of what can be done when a winemaker takes chenin blanc seriously — lots of white fruit aromas, a little lemon peel fruit, and a sort of slate-like, fruit pit finish. Available at Spec’s.
