Raffle benefits Lower Greenville dog-bite victim

Avenue Barket is known as a headquarters for lost-and-found dogs in the neighborhood. Since she opened in 2010, owner Cindy Embrey has helped dozens of lost dogs find their people, and she’s found homes for countless stray dogs.

Unfortunately, one of those rescued dogs bit Avenue Barket employee Susie Webb in the face. Webb doesn’t have insurance, so Embrey has organized a raffle fundraiser to help pay the medical bills. Embrey showed me a picture of Webb’s injury Tuesday, and it is pretty gruesome. The dog took a chunk out of her temple.

Raffle tickets cost $5 at Avenue Barket on Lower Greenville, and the list of prizes is below. You don’t have to be present to win, but Live Hair Group salon is hosting a happy hour from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, July 29, for the live drawing, with drinks and snacks.
