Saturday’s red, white and blue race

Saturday, July 7, don your red, white and blue sports attire for the Dallas Running Club Independence Day 5k/10k at Winfrey Point. Registration begins at 6:30 a.m. and the race starts at 8 a.m. Kids can do crafts and participate in their own race, too. Cost is $10, but members of the DRC get in for free. Volunteers are needed.

Race organizers expect a big turnout and hope for full thematic participation .

“This year, we thought it would be fun to see if we can get everyone to wear red, white, and blue running clothes for the race. We know it’s not on actual July 4th, but seeing hundreds of runners streaming along the lake in red, white, and blue will be really awesome,” notes the DRC newsletter.

Thank you to the organizers, from a look at the map, it would seem that cyclists and runners should have equal/separate use of the lake.  Save only a couple of spots where both groups are forced to share the lanes.

As long as they keep it by the lake, I’m happy.  If it comes into my neighborhood (near Mockingbird and Skillman), I’m not.  Tired of all the traffic blockages.
