‘Ride of Silence’ is Wednesday at White Rock Lake

Chris Phelan started the Ride of Silence nine years ago at White Rock Lake to honor cyclist Larry Schwartz, who was killed by a school bus mirror while riding his bike. The following year, the event spread to 50 cities, and now it is a worldwide event recognized in hundreds of cities.

This year’s event is at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 18 near the White Rock boat launch.

Here is a video Phelan created to explain the Ride of Silence mission.
