Saturday night fever

Circa 1977 – We were urged to “get up and boogie, get down and boogie” and “lay down the boogie, and play that funky music till you die.”

Yowsir, yowsir, yowsir, that class really knew how to disco. And also how to rope goats. Was that Michelle Metzger or Farrah Fawcett on The Poster?

And speaking of the Class of ’77, everyone knows that class was defined by its beautiful women, all of whom married well. One of those ladies, Liz Oliver Vilmar, is helping coordinate the upcoming 20-year reunion, and she’s inviting all Woodrow grads, especially those from the ‘70s, to join them at 7 p.m., Friday, September 19, at Ozona Grill (formerly Cardinal Puffs), 4615 Greenville.

Saturday night, the music’s right for dinner and dancing, but you can catch golf fever that morning on the links at Tenison Park. Coordinating the tourney are former Tim Brown winners Greg Turner and Kenny Huff. You might know Kenny as the head of Hank Haney’s Golf Center at City Place.

Don’t give up on us baby, the class will have brunch on Sunday. Oh, by the way Liz, that was me. I mean the whoop heard from the Senior Balcony when you flipped your petticoats (as a Sweetheart, of course) during one pep rally. For more information, call Taylor Reunions at 800-677-7800.
