There’s nothing left in Sali’s Pizza except for a beautiful husky

Sali’s Pizza has closed up shop. The Garland Road restaurant served Italian staples for over a decade, but when the Advocate visited, there looked to be crews taking down the sign, and the inside was gutted. All that remained inside was a large sandy husky, lazily napping on the tile floor.

It isn’t clear what is next for the space, but the nearby intersection between Garland and Peavy has been full of interesting developments and trendy eateries of late. Garland Road neighbors have been a much more vocal and active force about what happens on the thoroughfare lately, as a new wave of development makes its way to the northeast side of the lake.

We will update when we learn more.

A stone’s throw from the closed Sali’s is a jewel in the Second Chance retail store that raises funds for the Dallas treasure East Lake Pet Orphanage ( ELPO ) which has found new homes for over 2,500 treasured pets whose owners were unable to take their furry family members to their new homes.

If you have great quality items you no longer need at your home, drop them by ELPO and take that tax deduction for the value of those donated items.

It is also a great place to find unique treasures. As the stock turns over frequently, there is always new and interesting goodies on display there.

If you need a dog to keep your physical condition in top form with the recommended one mile daily walk, it makes sense to adopt a pet from ELPO, as you will get a pet that is vaccinated, neutered, and ready to become a member of your household.

Feel free to cut a nice sized check to ELPO should you feel so inspired to help this 501 ( c) 3 tax deductible charity that does so much to improve the quality of life for all in the Dallas community.
